The University of Louisiana at Lafayette
Lafayette, LA 70504
Keynote Speakers, LACC 2005:
Dr. E. Joseph Savoie, Commissioner of Higher Education for Louisiana
Dr. Savoie is not able to attend LACC2005: he
will be replaced by Dr. Ann Dobie, Emerita, The University of Louisiana
at Lafayette; Founding Director of the Acadiana Writing Project; and
Director, Louisiana Writing Project, who has graciously agreed to step
in at the last moment.
Dr. Kathleen Blake Yancey, Immediate Past Chair, Conference of
College Composition and Communication (CCCC)
I would like to invite you to the next Louisiana Association for
College Composition (LACC) Conference, to be held on the campus of the
University of Louisiana at Lafayette, February 25-26, 2005 (for early
arrivers, there will be an opening reception the evening of February
24th with complimentary hors d'oeuvres and open bar with beer and
wine!) The theme of the conference this year is "How, Then, Shall We
Teach? The Future of Composition Instruction in Louisiana" and it will
focus on the ways in which composition and the
teaching of literature is in flux in the state as we face a new
administration, tight budgets, war in other countries, the possibility
of a renewed draft, and the many other elements of life here.
I have arranged two great keynote events. Dr. E. Joseph Savoie,
Commissioner of Higher Education for Louisiana and Dr. Kathleen Blake
Yancey, Immediate Past Chair of CCCC will be present; they are both
engaging and dynamic speakers.
Lafayette is a wonderful place to visit and I hope you come for the
weekend. If you have any questions for me, you may feel free to contact
me at lacc2005@louisiana.edu
or at (337) 482-6915; I hope you're able to come and present a paper,
or simply enjoy visiting your colleagues in college composition from
across the Pelican
State. Thank you and I look forward to hearing from you.
