The LACC Task Force on Articulation

The LACC Task Force on Articulation is a cooperative effort of composition instructors and writing program administrators working in Louisiana; as members of the Louisiana Association for College Composition, we aim to produce two working documents for adoption by LACC:

"A Philosophy of Articulation for Louisiana Colleges and Universities"

This document will summarize our beliefs in what a second semester composition course should accomplish: in particular, we wish to summarize the skills that students should possess after having taken the second (or third, in the case of schools on the quarter or trimester systems) writing course in our required composition sequences.

"Expectations for a Second Semester Composition Course"

This document will detail our expectations and recommendations for a second semester composition course suitable for teaching in the Louisiana college and university systems. It is our hope that a course that meets or exceeds these requirements will be accepted for transfer ("fully articulated") across all of universities and colleges in Louisiana, though we note that neither of these documents will be binding on any institution or writing program unless mandated by a given institution or writing program.

The Task Force on Articulation is currently seeking at least one representative from every college or university in Louisiana so that we can have state-wide representation on this task force and so that our work reflects the realties of teaching and learning at the wide range of institutions that make up the higher education system in Louisiana.

If you work as a writing instructor at any rank, or, especially, if you serve your institution as its writing program administrator, and wish to become a member of the task force, please contact Keith Dorwick (kdorwick@yahoo.com); you can also subscribe by clicking the link next to "Subscribe" and/or sending e-mail to that address.
